Opening 2015
Emergency Department
Urgent Care / Emergency Department
The emergency department at UCSF Benioff Children’s Hospital will offer prompt, specialized care for our pediatric patients. Equipped with the latest medical technology and a staff dedicated to the treatment and healing of children, our emergency department will provide pediatric patients with the care they need, when they need it.
Urgent Care Center
For non-emergency situations like minor illnesses or injuries, our emergency department will feature an urgent care center. The urgent care center at UCSF Benioff Children’s Hospital will take same-day appointments for pediatric, non-emergency care.
Surgical Suites
Patients admitted to the emergency department requiring surgery will have access to the most cutting-edge medical technology available. Surgical suites will feature OR integration, robotics, intra-operative imaging, digital X-rays and telemedicine. An integrated interventional platform will merge surgical and imaging modalities.
Emergency Transport
The majority of emergency transport to the emergency department will utilize ambulances, delivering patients from San Francisco, as well as the greater Bay Area. A daily average of four ambulance transfers is expected, adding up to about 110 each month. Patients with life-threatening needs can also be transferred via helicopter to the rooftop helipad.
Code Three Responses
The emergency department at UCSF Benioff Children’s Hospital will be prepared for code three responses: the transport of patients in critical condition. Currently, UCSF Medical Center averages less than three code three responses per month.
