Opening 2015
Acute Care Patient Room
Acute Care Patient Room
We’ve designed the acute care patient rooms in our cancer hospital to accommodate our patients’ increasing demands for better, easier ways to maintain close and healthy relationships with their caregivers and loved ones. For example, the traditional TV has been replaced by a high-tech media wall. From connecting to work or a classroom via webcam to playing games with friends; and from customizing the room lighting to investigating a new diagnosis, the media wall provides a lifeline to the resources within the hospital and to the world outside — creating a more familiarized (and comfortable) environment for patients and family alike. Meanwhile, the inviting family area in each acute care patient room allows for more comfortable and lengthy visits, including overnight stays, with loved ones.

Family Area

For the comfort and convenience of the patient’s family, a dedicated family zone is delineated in each acute care patient room. This area includes carefully chosen amenities such as individualized lighting and temperature controls, a wireless Internet connection, and flexible furniture to accommodate overnight stays.
Bathroom

Every patient bathroom in our cancer hospital is located at the headwall of the bed for easier and safer patient movement from bed to bathroom. This bathroom is also equipped with a shower specifically designed without a curb to facilitate ease of movement and improve patient safety.
Room Details

Every patient room is designed with infection control in mind: surfaces are smooth for easy cleaning, while coved flooring and minimal ledges offer additional levels of infection control. As an added safeguard, a hand-washing sink is located just upon entrance to the acute care patient room to encourage use. The layout of the room is also set at an angle that optimizes window views and increases the family area.
